Our Mission
To promote, encourage and stimulate popular interest in the outstanding qualities of the Arabian horse. To promote distance riding and encourage good sportsmanship. To promote and manage activities for the education of those interested.
Club Profile:
Chartered in January 1993 by International Arabian Horse Association, the club was founded for the purpose of promoting the Arabian horse, Endurance riding, Limited Distance riding and Competitive Trail riding.
Each year the club sponsors the Frigid Digit 25/35/50-endurance ride and the Texas Bluebonnet Classic 25/50/100-endurance ride. The club has sponsored the AHA Region 9 Championship endurance ride since 1993.
Other club activities include working with the US Forest Service at LBJ National Grasslands in Decatur, Texas. Since 1993 TADRA members have been active in a number of civic projects at LBJ National Grasslands. Members have donated hundreds of hours of labor to locate, clear, map and maintain 50 miles of permanently marked horse and hiking trails at this Federal preserve. The club has donated both money and labor to construct permanent restrooms and camping spaces at TADRA Point campground.
In September 2000, the club was awarded a $38, 480 grant by Texas Parks and Wildlife to construct 25 miles of new horse and hiking trail and install 2 new windmills and stock tanks on trail at LBJ National Grasslands. The money comes from the National Recreational Trail Fund through a provision of the Federal Highway Bill. Construction should start in the spring of 2001 and be finished in early 2002.
TADRA publishes a monthly newsletter and has year end high point awards for Endurance, Limited Distance and Competitive Trail
