The college is leading the way in interdisciplinary approaches to the arts and humanities by developing emerging fields like digital humanities, and offering area study programs that draw on multiple fields to open exciting, multifaceted views of such regions of the world as Latin America, the Middle East and East Asia.
ARHU is centrally located at the heart of the state's flagship institution providing approximately 37% of the undergraduate instruction at the University of Maryland, impacting almost all students on campus. The college is ideal for faculty or students who may want an academic life similar to that of a small liberal arts college, yet also welcome the benefits of a major research one institution in terms athletics, resources, and diversity.
Also important is our proximity to the rich resources of Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis, allowing faculty and students to reap the benefits. Faculty and students are working on a broad range of research topics and projects with The National Archives, The National Endowment for the Humanities, The Smithsonian Institution, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
We invite you to further explore ARHU to see how the college is pursuing its mission and vision to provide outstanding education, scholarly research, and community outreach.
