Mission:
The Cystic Fibrosis Institute (CFI) is committed to supporting those affected by cystic fibrosis in the Chicagoland area and to making a difference by being a meaningful and active source of assistance and advocacy for all people with CF and for families in dealing with the everyday challenge of cystic fibrosis.
About Us:
The organization focuses on four areas of C.A.R.E.:
Clinical Assistance - Mentorship, psychological services, medications, nutritional supplements, medical supplies, and consultation in the areas of physical therapy, exercise, and diet.
Advocacy - Commitment to advocate on an individual basis for the specific needs that effect the everyday struggle of those affected with CF (i.e. school, employment, legal, financial issues, etc.) The Cystic Fibrosis Institute is active at local, regional and national levels to best represent the needs of children and adults.
Research - Participation in independent and nationally funded CF research in addition to being committed to making available all therapies to people with CF whether already on the market or in research trials.
Education - The teaching of cystic fibrosis care to clients, their families, and other medical professionals. CFI provides an annual Winter Educational Retreat for health care professions, persons affected by cystic fibrosis, and families who care for patients with this disease. Additional educational activities include a quarterly dinner lecture series, a newsletter, website information, and printed materials on the newest research, clinical trials, and therapies.
