Habakkuk 2:2 "Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets, so he may run that reads it."

It was not by accident we got the name for our church as the Lighthouse. I believe God has a reason for it. If you can picture for a moment the purpose of a lighthouse, you can get the idea for our purpose. A lighthouse sets on a hill and shines it's light out over the troubled sea. As those in the storms see the light, they are drawn into a safe place out of the storm. Inside there are those at the door who wrap the storm victims in warm blankets, there are those who have dry clothes, those who prepare and serve food, and those who clean up and keep the place looking good. There are people to talk to, and even those who know first aid, to help all that have been hurt and bruised by the storms. Then when these get strong enough, they help the next group of victims who come get healed up.

Now in a spiritual sense, we can look at the purpose of the Lighthouse Church as this. The light beams that go out are the people who go out into the world (storms) each day. As the love of Jesus goes out of them, it is a light that draws people to a safe place (Jesus). Then as these people need help, they are brought into the church, and at the door they start receiving warmth and comfort as someone wraps them with a hug, a smile, and a hand shake.

As others love them and talk to them, it helps them get out of those old sin-soaked clothes and slip into the robe of Rigtheousness that God has prepared for them. There are those who have prayed and prepared some good food (God's Word) so they can eat and get their strength back. And those who can administer first aid to help the afflicted and the bruised. Then others are there to help clean up, and some who just walk around and look for things to do and then do it. But the most precious thing is that everyone works together with one purpose in mind: to help the storm victims. This is the whole reason for all the people and for the Lighthouse even existing. If the light ever goes out, the people out there in the storms will be destroyed by the storms. We can see the storms getting more violent everyday. If everyone inside the Lighthouse would stop helping, when the victims would come in, they wouldn't receive the proper help to heal them up and the effects of the storm would still be hurting their lives.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in Heaven."
