I am seeking to raise money to rehab this historic landmark in Clarendon, NY to have a retail antiques & collectible store.  I need to raise $100,000 in 4 months.  This building is currently vacant and in need of serious rehab.  I have spent the last several months contacting contractors, electricians, health department, architects, national grid, code enforcement and other to gather a cost analysis on rehabbing this 1836 Historic building.  There is much work to be done.  Can you please help me raise half of the funds needed to get this project off the ground.  Time is against me and I would greatly appreciate any donations you are willing to support me with.  This is a dollar and a dream!   Here is my story....

A few months ago I was reading the D&C (local newspaper) when I came across an article about a building to be demolished in Clarendon, NY (Orleans Co.) and was up for sale for just $1.00.  I read the article to find out more and became instantly interested in knowing more about the buildings characteristics. I immediately called the individual that was referenced as saving the building from demolition.  We met the next day and I immediately fell in love with 1836 historic building and all its rich history.  After getting a tour of the existing building my lifelong dream came to reality of designing an antiquities and collectibles retail store. Having heard the rich history and how the building has been left abandon by the previous landlord I realized this building needed a second chance.  After further discussion with Erin my passion for saving the building grew stronger and stronger.  Following the second and third meeting with her I had to take action, as time was running out. The town allowed a year for Erin to find a buyer and developer so that the building would not be demolished.  I swiftly started meeting with contractors, architects, engineers, electricians, town officials, the code enforcer, etc.  Consequently, this led to developing a plan of action that the town was requesting for the fruition of the buildings existence.  I soon met with the Historic Landmark Society and developed a proposal to save the building from destruction.  That turned into a full-time job and time was running out!  I had just weeks to get the proposal right and make my presentation to the Town.  Time was up and my proposal was completed to the best of my ability.  Then I met with the Town on July 17, 2012.  I presented my proposal and ideas to turn the building into an Antiquities & Collectibles retail store with a private residence above it (on the second floor).  They liked my ideas, but had questions.  Furthermore, the town gave a 6 month extension and wanted me to continue to work on proposed question about parking and septic.  The store was still not sold to me because of the unsureness of the finances to rehab the building.  I spoke with lending agencies and was really considering a grant from NYS.   At this point no decision has been made on ownership.  I am currently working on becoming a 501(c)3 (non-for-profit) and giving monies back to the community.  This process takes time, but time is against me.  This is a dollar and a dream! Please help fund this project.
