In the year 2004, the Town collected 3,044 tons of trash along with 279 tons of recyclables. The Town's tax rate is $0.045 per $100.00 of assessed value. A house valued at $100,000 would pay $450.00 in property tax.

The highway system in and around Siler City is improved with the completion of the US 421 Bypass and widening of US 64. With four lane highways running both North-South and East-West, Siler City is at a crossroads where continued growth and economic development are ever present.

The Town operates under the Council/Manager form of government, whereby citizens elect the Mayor and Town Board of Commissioners who then hire a Town Manager who is responsible for carrying out the policies of the Town. The Mayor is the highest elected official and serves as the presiding officer at Town Board meetings. The Town Board is made up of seven members, 5 of whom are elected from districts and 2 who are members-at-large.
