Welcome to the Town of Whitefield, New Hampshire, incorporated in 1804. This traditional New England own is situated along the Johns River north of both Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch and northwest of Mount Washington (Elevation 6,288 feet)- the northeast's highest peak. Residents enjoy the diversity of the four seasons in this paradise located in the Great North Woods Region bordered by the WhiteMountains.
Our vibrant community may be small but it is alive and well. The energy and spirit of the people is everywhere, touching lives throughout the town and beyond. Changes abound as this historic hamlet has gracefully embraced the 21st century. An eclectic mix of old and new blend to bring to Whitefield the quaint flavor of bygone days while pressing forward in the technological age.
The people of Whitefield are proud and industrious; resourceful and objective; principled and respectful. Many of us are here by choice-- not by chance.
Whitefield's first settlers came in the early 1800's and the town was officially incorporated in 1804. As our nation began its growth so did the tiny village of Whitefields (the "s" was later dropped). There will be much to view in the heritage section of this website and we urge you to return often as it will feature new material frequently.
