United Way of Alexander County first started out in 1979 as Alexander County United Fund. The campaign was operated by volunteers only. Volunteers did all clerical duties, soliciting and collecting of funds, and the disbursement of funds. Denise Elder (Ingram) volunteered from 1990 to 2000 and was employed with the Chamber of Commerce as well. It seemed that the two jobs went hand in hand.
A note from Gail Drum, DirectorUnited Way of Alexander county Taylorsville, North Carolina Make your caring count by investing in human lives. You can depend on United Way to give you a good return. Funds are targeted toward the most critical needs in our community and cost to provide these services are kept to a minimum.
We must continue to invest in our community and in each other. We must ensure our children are safe, our families are strong and secure, and people in need have a place to turn. The stronger we make our community, the stronger we become.
Never does a day pass that many people benefit from the services of United Way agencies. Make your caring count in Alexander County is the best way to touch many lives of others in a positive manner.
