About Us

The Vermont Historical Society, founded in 1838 by an act of the Vermont legislature, is a not-for-profit, membership-supported organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Vermont history. It operates a library and museum, has active publishing and educational programs, and sponsors special events.

The Vermont Historical Society engages both Vermonters and "Vermonters at heart" in the exploration of our state's rich heritage.
