Visiting Nurse Health System, Inc., a comprehensive health care organization, is the largest home health care company in Georgia, serving people in 26 counties throughout greater Atlanta. It operates the oldest pediatric and adult hospice program in Georgia, Hospice Atlanta, which serves patients in both an in-home setting and through the inpatient Hospice Atlanta Center, located in Buckhead.

Visiting Nurse was chartered in Atlanta in 1948 "to promote health, to prevent disease and to provide skilled nursing care for the sick in their homes on a part-time basis, without respect of financial condition, race, color or religious beliefs." The agency began serving patients in 1949 with two staff Registered Nurses; today, Visiting Nurse/Hospice Atlanta has approximately 500 employees and served over 12,000 Georgians in 2003, through all its programs combined.
