The West Lake Church of God was founded in June 1917 after a nine-week revival featuring Evangelist John L. Stevens and Pastor Jim Culpepper. From its inception, the church at West Lake has proven to be a church that displays a sincere desire to please God. Throughout the lean years of the Depression and the difficult years of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and the turbulent 60's, the church maintained it's primary purpose: the worship and service of God.

Today, the church carries on that same tradition of worship and service toward God, and while we have no charter members remaining with us, we still have their vision and passion for the spiritual things of God.
