Our Mission
The West Valley UU church is a community that respects each individual's path toward spiritual growth. Our church's mission, simply stated, is:
-To build a caring Community supportive of personal dignity and open communication.
-To be a vital force in the wider community by sharing our vision for social justice and intellectual freedom and by service to those in need.
-To encourage each other in our search for truth and meaning.
-To provide a safe, nuturing environment where children,as well as adults, can follow their own religious path.
-To grow in understanding of our universal connection.
Our Beliefs
The West Valley UU church is one of more than 1,000 self-governing congregations belonging to the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Freedom of belief is the characteristic theme of contemporary Unitarian Universalism. We are a non-creedal church. There is no doctrinal test for membership. We have chosen a heritage that places the final authority for religious questions, not with a book, the Bible, nor with an institution, the church, but with reason and individual experience.
A Unitarian Universalist led by his or her reason and conscience to a belief in the unique missions of Jesus may sit beside another member, similarily led, who does not believe in the existence of a personal God.
