About Us:

The Wilton Rotary Club was chartered on May 15, 2002. The 20+ members of the Club consist of men and women with a wide variety of backgrounds. Several members own their own businesses including a restaurant, forestry, general contracting, and photography, while others work for larger companies in financial services, insurance, and advertising sales. We have individuals who work for the YMCA, in school administration, as well as physicians, a CPA, and a veterinarian. Members live or work in Wilton or in surrounding communities. Business networking is a part of Rotary, but is not the reason why people stay in Rotary. They are brought together by a common desire to serve and enhance not only the community in which they live, but the world as well. The Wilton Rotary Club does this by holding fundraisers throughout the year. Proceeds of these events are then donated to various charities and organizations, both local and international.

To that end, Wilton Rotarians have been a busy group. Over the last four years, we have held some popular events such as "S’mores & Stories" at Gavin Park every fall, where story tellers from across the region entertain local children with fables, ghost stories, and history, while our Rotary family makes S’mores for everyone to enjoy. We also introduced a yearly print sale as a fundraiser. Local artist Karin Vollkommer has created such marvelous pieces as Seabiscuit, The Rivals, and Birdstone (see our home page for pictures and more info). We sell these prints at art shows throughout the year and from our website to raise money for our community. We have also started the “Polio Bears”, a group of wild Rotarians who, for the last three years have plunged into the freezing waters of Lake George each New Year’s Day to raise money for polio eradication. We also held a very successful St. Patty’s Day Dinner in March and our first annual golf tournament in June. Additionally, we have been supportive of the Junior Achievement and Spanish Clubs at the Maple Ave. Middle School. Lastly, we celebrated Rotary International’s 100th Anniversary in 2005 by creating an Interactive Centennial Walking Trail at Camp Saratoga, where we are property stewards, as well.

There is much to look forward to for the Wilton Rotary Club as we plan our future community involvement. Ideas include starting an "Interact Club" at the High School which focuses students on community service, a free dictionary program for 3rd graders at the elementary schools, creating our own Foundation to support yearly high school scholarships, and perhaps even a “winter wonderland” event in January, just to name a few. We continue to look for exciting new ways to serve our growing community. And as the town of Wilton grows, we would like our club to grow, too!
