The Winnebago County - ADVOCAP Transportation Program is a program designed to provide transportation to those in need as requested by the Department of Human Services (DHS) in Winnebago County. This program enables children, adults, and seniors to attend important appointments at no cost.
The Transportation Program is open to volunteers over age 21. Volunteers must have a reliable car and a good driving record. Proof of insurance, a valid Wisconsin driver's license, and a background free of criminal offenses is required. Volunteers are asked to fill out a one page registration form and participate in a face to face interview at the time of enrollment.
We ask all volunteers to commit to at least 6 months of driving. Volunteers must have a desire to help those in need and be sensitive to the feelings and needs of those they are driving. Volunteers must maintain confidentiality and be non-judgmental with regard to race, income, special needs, disabilities, religion, family status and background. Volunteers should be able to keep detailed records such as mileage odometer readings, length of assignments, and any expenses requiring reimbursement.
