On August 12, 1884, a small group of about fifty people designated themselves as Zion's Church of the Evangelical Lutheran teachings of the unaltered Augsburg confession. Zion's Church was thoroughly grounded in God's Word and certain of their Christian confession and faith on the basis of the Scriptures. Zion's Church constitution was aligned with the teachings of the Lutheran Reformation, as reaffirmed in the Book of Concord, because these were in accord with the true meaning of God's Word.
Zion Lutheran Church is now a part of the growing ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
