David Slater joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in April 2015, following a 10-year career in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. David understands the challenges and opportunities associated with life in the military and is committed to helping service members and their families get their financial lives squared away.
David has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from UC Davis and an Associate’s degree in Arabic from Defense Language Institute. He holds Series 7, 66 securities licenses plus life and health insurance licenses in CA.
Understanding that the biggest obstacle to financial security for most people is their own behavior, David serves as a personal financial coach to clients, continually reinforcing positive financial behaviors. He advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. David will work with you to establish specific, meaningful goals that are consistent with your values and then develop a personalized financial plan to guide your pursuit of those goals.
Active in his community, David is a member of VFW Post 8762 and Secretary on the Board of Directors for Enabling Peace in Iraq Center - an independent, D.C.-based 501(c)3 which is committed to lasting peace and empowering communities in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan.
