The Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA) is Michigan’s largest community school of the arts and among the largest in the United States. More than 3,500 students from 21 counties across mid-Michigan discover an amazing world of music and dance in our state-of-the-art facility.
The FSPA teaching philosophy was developed by faculty and staff through extensive research in student achievement. This innovative approach, Beyond Boundaries, utilizes non-judgmental teaching techniques designed to encourage and support the individual goals and learning styles of students. The FSPA seeks to provide a learning environment that is safe and nurturing while offering challenges and opportunities for growth.
Group classes and lessons are tought by a caring faculty of more than 50 degreed and certified instructors. Esteemed artists in their own disciplines, FSPA teachers provide world-class instruction in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Additionally, students have the option to participate in performance ensembles and community partnership programs.
The FSPA is represented by students who have continued on to professional careers in orchestras and dance companies throughout the world such as the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony and Sacramento Ballet. While not all alumni choose to pursue their discipline at the collegiate or professional level, the FSPA seeks to foster a deep love and appreciation of the arts in every student –truly a gift that continues for a lifetime.
All students are welcome at the FSPA, regardless of age or ability. A variety of tuition assistance and tuition-free programs are available, making study at the FSPA possible for everyone.
